Kings 2017 offensive lineman Matt Sichterman verbally committed to Nebraska on Sunday.

Sichterman, who is 6 feet 5 and 275 pounds, had a reported 29 scholarship offers during the recruiting process. National Signing Day is February 2017.

Sichterman, 17, had 19 offers in late February and his recruiting picked up even more steam this spring.

Kings coach Andy Olds said Nebraska was the perfect fit. He will study computer engineering in Lincoln.

“He liked the academic structure and support system in place for the student-athlete,” Olds said. “He told me the alumni base in the field of computer tech is off the charts. He also loved the fact that football is a huge part of the culture at Nebraska.”

Mark Porter, director of ScoutingOhio.com, says Sichterman has excellent potential at the next level.

Sichterman, ranked No. 9 on WCPO's Top 100 list, is the eighth area commit in the 2017 class.

“He has a long frame and quick feet – two assets that will let him play the edge in college and be able to handle big-time pass rushers,” Porter said. “He has room to grow and add weight which will give him power in college.”
