CINCINNATI -- Moeller lacrosse standout Jack Stahanczyk has verbally committed to Rutgers University, according to Moeller coach Sean McGinnis.

Stahanczyk, a junior, plays defense and long stick midfield for the Crusaders. He is the sixth college commit for the Moeller lacrosse program this fall.

“Because of his physicality and athleticism, and the style of play that Rutgers lacrosse is, that makes him a good fit there,” McGinnis told WCPO.com.

“Their head coach (Brian Brecht) and I spoke (Tuesday) and he was very impressed with Jack every time they saw him. They feel that he is a playmaker on the field which is what they are looking for in order to compete in the Big Ten.”

Stahanczyk also considered Bellarmine, Colgate and Mercer. He was first-team all-Greater Catholic League, first-team all-region and third-team all-state this past spring. He participated in the Under Armour Uncommitted Games too.

Stahanczyk led the Crusaders with 71 ground balls and was second in caused turnovers with 30 as a sophomore, according to Moeller statistician Steve Albrinck.
