After a long winter and cool start to spring, it's hard not to daydream about all of the fun things to do outside now that the sun is out and warmer temperatures are here to stay.

But if a lavish trip is out of your budget, or you can't take time off work to travel, the good news is you don't have to go far to explore.

WCPO is launching a new series, Wild Cincy, that aims to get the people of Greater Cincinnati outside and show you how to take advantage of the what's just beyond your backyard.

Whether it's a weekend camping trip in the Red River Gorge or a weekday hike in Mount Airy Forest, photojournalist Emily Maxwell wants to help you explore the resources and locations already available to you.

We will talk to experts, local enthusiasts, nature photographers and much more over the course of the next few months. This series is aimed to be fun, informational and to highlight some of the Queen City's most beloved nature sites.

So step away from your Netflix binges and discover something new with us. You can follow along with the journey on Instagram @wildcincy or share some of your favorite spots with us with an email to emaxwell@wcpo.com.

Below is the first Wild Cincy video in which we take you on Ault Park's Tree Trail.

Hope you enjoy. Happy Trails!
