There’s another universe, maybe, in which March 26, 2020, includes an Opening Day parade through Findlay Market and thousands of Reds fans sharing the experience together in person, elbow-to-elbow, caps on and drinks in hand.

That won’t happen in this one, but Cincinnati still has things to celebrate. The Reds, the spring and the spirit of camaraderie are shared values that tie our city together, even in uncertain times like these.

That’s why WCPO wants viewers to put on their favorite player’s jersey, get their rally caps on and WEAR RED Thursday for a virtual, quarantine-safe Opening Day.

Even though there won’t be a real game or parade, our Reds spirit is strong. You’ll see plenty of red on our anchors and reporters Thursday, even as many of them work from home.

We want you to join us by continuing the Opening Day spirit from your own “home base” — wear red! Show us how you’re celebrating Cincinnati, the Reds and spring traditions at home.

Fans can share the creative ways they’re celebrating a virtual Opening Day this year by sending videos and pictures to us via email at newsdesk@wcpo.com or via WCPO 9’s Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts using the hashtag #VirtualOpeningDay.

We’ll show the fun ways everyone is keeping the spirit of Opening Day alive in newscasts, on social media and on our website.
