Parasailing victim Alexis Fairchild suffers setback

INDIANAPOLIS - One of the victims of a parasailing accident has suffered a setback in her recovery.

The parents of 17-year-old Alexis Fairchild said she was recovering after undergoing surgery on Friday at Methodist Hospital.

“Alexis had a postoperative complication from an emergency surgery she had at the time of her injury. This required a second surgery to treat a wound and will likely require further procedures. From a brain injury perspective, Alexis is recovering very well. This recent surgery will require a relatively short stay in the hospital to receive treatment with antibiotics,” said IU Health Neurosurgeon Dr. Richard Rogers.

Fairchild was one of two Indiana girls injured in a parasailing accident in Florida July 1.

Sidney Good, 17, was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital July 23
