Brianna Wood fund set up at Fith Third Bank

Teen accident victim's condition improves

PENDLETON COUNTY, Ky. - UPDATE as of September 26, 2011

If you would like to help Brianna Wood's family with Brianna's medical expenses, you can do so through a fund set up at Fifth Third Bank. Donations can be made at any Fifth Third Bank through a benefit account named Brianna's Corner - Brianna Wood.

Brianna's mother, Nancy Wood, frequently updates friends and family on Brianna's condition via her Facebook page. According to Nancy's most recent updates, Brianna's condition is improving.

Brianna is even able to eat some of her favorite foods again like Frisch's french fries and biscuits and gravy from McDonald's.

In an email update received from Nancy Wood, we learned that her daughter, Brianna Wood, returned to  University Hospital after experiencing a brain bleed on Aug. 30, 2011. Just four days earlier, the Drake Center in Hartwell, Ohio released Brianna. She had been in recovery there after being injured in a car accident on August 6, 2011 on US-27 in Pendleton County, causing severe head trauma and multiple facial fractures.

Brianna's mother Nancy Wood credits all of the cards from friends and family, a special journal, text messages and Facebook posts for Brianna's quick recovery.

Nancy says, "It's been amazing. I'm very thankful that we've crossed a lot of paths, received a lot of prayers and notes and well-wishes and comfort from everybody. That energy and the prayers and the thoughts that have come to her have definitely got us to where we are right now.

Nancy is not sure how long Brianna's recovery will take but she's working to get Brianna into a long-term rehabilitation program at Children's Hospital. She asks that everyone keep Brianna in their prayers.
