Memorial Day events in the Tri-State 2013

Below is a list of some Memorial Day community activities in the Tri-State:


Arlington Heights, Lockland, Reading: Parade, 9:30 a.m. Memorial Day at Arlington Heights Village Hall on Elliott Street stopping at the Veterans' Memorial at Wyoming and Williams avenues in Lockland and again at the Mill Creek Bridge joining Reading and Lockland. Then will head east on Benson Street and stop at a Veterans' Memorial proceeding to Reading Road, north to west on Vine Street and stop at the Veterans' Memorial at Vine Street and Jefferson Avenue. Finally, will then north on Jefferson Avenue to Columbia Avenue to Reading Cemetery for another service.

Blue Ash: Parade, 10:15 a.m. Memorial Day, begins near the Reed Hartman Highway-Cooper Road intersection, then will travel east on Cooper Road to Kenwood Road, south on Kenwood to Hunt, and east on Hunt to the Veterans Memorial near Towne Square. Following the parade, Veterans Memorial will host a ceremony.

Cheviot: Parade, 11 a.m. Memorial Day starting at Harrison and Frances avenues and will travel from Harrison to North Bend and then to Harvest Home Park. A service will be held at the park to close out the parade.

Clifton: Parade, 11 a.m. Memorial Day starting at Middleton and McAlpin and traveling to Mount Storm Park on Lafayette Avenue. A grill-out will be held at Mt. Storm Park following the parade.

Colerain Township: There will be speakers and laying of wreaths at three sites Memorial Day: 10 a.m. at the Groesbeck fire station on Galbraith Road, 11 a.m. at the Colerain Heritage Memorial on Springdale Road and 2:30 p.m. at the Dunlap Station Cemetery on East Miami River Road.

Downtown Taste of Cincinnati, Fifth and Race streets, Memorial Day Weekend. Saturday and Sunday, Noon to Midnight. Memorial Day, Noon to 9 p.m.

Evanston: Parade, 11 a.m. Memorial Day, beginning at the Evanston Community Center and continuing along Fairfax, Evanston and Hewitt avenues. The recreation center will host a short ceremony after.

Fairfax: Parade, 11 a.m. Memorial Day, with a small ceremony at the municipal building, 5903 Hawthorne St. West on Hawthorne, to north on Southern Avenue, to east on Elder Street, to south on Camden Avenue, then west on Hawthorne, to south on Simpson, across Wooster Pike to the American Legion at 3686 Arrow Point Way, where a larger ceremony will be held.

Glendale: Parade at 9:30 a.m. Memorial Day,begins at Glendale Elementary School, proceeds to the war memorial at 80 E. Sharon Road. Services follow parade.

Green Township: VFW will distribute poppies at Kroger stores on Saturday at three locations: Dent, Western Hills and Delhi Township. Memorial service, 2:30 p.m. Memorial Day at Veterans Park. Park is next to the township administration building, 6303 Harrison Ave.

Loveland: Parade, 9:30 a.m. Memorial Day, starting at Loveland Miami Elementary School,  to Loveland-Madeira Road, to the Veterans' Loveland Memorial, West Loveland Avenue and Riverside Drive.

Mariemont: Parade, 8 a.m. Memorial Day beginning in front of Mariemont Parish Center, to Plainville Road, east on Wooster Pike to the Mariemont Municipal Building where a ceremony will be held in the square. Then the parade leaves the square and travels west on Wooster Pike to Mariemont Community Church, Cherry Lane, where another small ceremony will be held.

Cleves: Parade, 9:30 a.m. Memorial Day at the Cleves Kroger parking lot.  Parade will start at Miami Avenue and continue to Cooper. A memorial service follows at Maple Grove Cemetery. After the service, buses travel to President William Henry Harrison's Tomb in North Bend for a rededication service, scheduled for noon. Lunch afterward at American Legion Post.

North College Hill: Parade, 11 a.m. Saturday, traveling from Thriftway, to west Goodman Avenue to Simpson Avenue, north on Simpson to Galbraith Road, east on Galbraith to City Hall. Before returning to Thrift Way, there will be a ceremony at City Hall.

St. Bernard: Parade, 9:30 a.m. Memorial Day at Park Place and Bertus streets, to Delmar Avenue,  Sullivan Street to Washington Avenue, to the Veterans' Memorial at Washington Avenue and Vine Street.  Ceremonies will be held there.  Coffee and doughnuts after the ceremonies at the municipal building.

Springfield Township: Flag-raising ceremony 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road. Ohio Senate President Richard Finan, R-Evendale, will be the featured speaker. Trumpeters from Colerain High School will perform.

Springfield Township: Parade, 10 a.m. Memorial Day, Simpson at Crutchfield in West College Hill, to West College Hill Neighborhood Services Project, 2062 North Bend Road. Choirs from several local churches will perform.

Terrace Park: Parade, 10 a.m. Memorial Day, Terrace Park Elementary School to Village Green on Terrace Place.


Hamilton: Memorial service, 2 p.m. , Sunday at Darrtown Cemetery in Darrtown.
Parade Memorial Day, 10 a.m. at the Butler County Soldiers, Sailors and Pioneers Monument, High Street and Monument Avenue; east on High Street to north on 10th Street to Greenwood Cemetery for ceremonies. Memorial service, 2 p.m. Memorial Day at Rose Hill Burial Park & Crematory, 2421 Princeton Road.

Middletown: Parade 10 a.m., Memorial Day.  Starts at Smith Park on Wilberham Road, traveling north on Main Street to Verity Parkway, south on Verity to 14th Street and Woodside Cemetery for ceremonies at 11:15 a.m. Shriners from Dayton-Antioch participate.

Monroe: Service, 1 p.m., Memorial Day at North Monroe Cemetery on North Main Street at Ohio 63.

Union Township: Parade, 10 a.m., Memorial Day at Union School, 8735 Cincinnati-Dayton Road; south on Cincinnati-Dayton Road, west on West Chester Road to Brookside Cemetery for ceremonies.



Amelia: Parade, 8 a.m. Memorial Day, Ohio 125 in western Amelia to Amelia Elementary School, 5 E. Main St.

Batavia: Parade, 11:30 a.m. Memorial Day near the overpass at the west end of Main Street, stopping at the bridge for traditional services, then to Haglage Memorial Park near Main and Market streets for additional services.

Felicity: Parade, 11 a.m. Memorial Day, Felicity-Franklin School, 415 W. Washington St., Market Street to South Park.

Milford: Parade, 9:30 a.m. Memorial Day at American Legion Post 450, 111 Race St. There are three ceremonies: at the Milford Memorial Park downtown, Greenlawn Cemetery, and St. Andrew's Cemetery.

Mount Carmel: Parade, 10 a.m. Memorial Day, beginning at Withamsville Park off Ohio 125, traveling west on Ohio 125 to Mount Moriah Cemetery.  A memorial service and music and firing squad salute will be held at the cemetery.


Carlisle: Parade, 1 p.m. Memorial Day, starts at Meadowlark Drive and Sunset Drive and ends at the New Jersey Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Franklin: Parade, 10 a.m. Memorial Day, parade begins at Park Avenue traveling to Main Street to Franklin-Middletown Road, and ending at Woodhill Cemetery.

Lebanon: Parade, 11 a.m. Memorial Day, South Street and Broadway, proceeding north to Lebanon Cemetery.

Mason: Parade, 10 a.m. Memorial Day.  Starts at American Legion Post 194, 401 Reading Road, through town to Rose Hill Cemetery. Morrow: Parade, 2 p.m. Memorial Day. Begins at Morrow Elementary School and ends at Salem Township Cemetery.

South Lebanon: Parade, 10 a.m. Memorial Day, Pike Street to High, Broadway and Mary Ellen streets. Continues on Mason-Morrow Road to Shawhan Road to South Lebanon Cemetery. A new veterans' memorial will be dedicated at the municipal building, 99 N. High St., at noon.

Village of Morrow: Parade, 11 a.m., starts at the former Morrow Elementary School located on Pike St.  Afterwards all are welcomed back to the Morrow Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8202 for lunch.


Alexandria: Parade, 2 p.m. Sunday, starts at the old Campbell County High School, Orchard Lane and Washington and will end at the VFW Memorial, 8261 Alexandria Pike. Sponsored by the Campbell County VFW Post 3205 Auxiliary.

Covington: Parade and service, 1:30 p.m. Memorial Day, starts at Second and West Madison and concludes at Linden Grove Cemetery.

Crestview: Parade, 9 a.m. Memorial Day, starting at Cline Middle School, East Alexandria Pike, and concluding at the city monument. Sponsored by the City of Crestview.

Elsmere-Erlanger: Parade, 9 a.m. Memorial Day, starting at Elsmere VFW Post 6423 and concluding at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
Independence: Parade, 3 p.m. Memorial Day, starting at Simon Kenton High School and will ending at Independence - Kenton County Courthouse.

Ludlow: Parade, 11 a.m. Memorial Day, starting at Carneal and Elm, and concluding at Adela and Helen.

Newport: Parade, 9 a.m., travels south on York Street to Sixth Street, turns east on Monmouth Street, goes south on Monmouth Street to Tenth Street, and ends at Newport City Building. A ceremony in honor of Veterans is hosted after the parade in front of the Newport City Building at Tenth and Monmouth Streets.  A continental breakfast will take place in the first floor multi-purpose room of the City Building.

Park Hills: Parade, 11:30 a.m. Memorial Day, starts at Notre Dame Academy and follows Dixie Highway to Arlington Road, then to Old State Road, Terrace Drive, Amsterdam road, to Park Drive.  To continue to the flag raising events, participants can continue around Rose Circle and park along Park Drive.

Southgate: Parade, 10 a.m. Memorial Day, starting at Bluegrass and Electric and concluding at Electric and Evergreen.
