CINCINNATI - Michelle Lesco of Tucson, Ariz. consumed more than 150 wings in 10 minutes Saturday to claim the title of World Wing-Eating Champion.
Lesco was one six professional eaters who made their way to Cincinnati to face off against local amateur eaters in the second annual Hooters of Cincinnati World Wing-Eating Championship, which was held outside Great American Ball Park.
The event, which featured Major League Eater and Cincinnati native Sean Mulcahey, was designed to see how many Hooters chicken wings some of the biggest stomachs in the country could down in a 10-minute eating free-for-all.
In addition to Lesco, who managed to consume 152 wings just one day after knocking off famed eater Joey Chestnut in a rib-eating contest, professional eaters Brian Subich, Corey Fanguy, Andrew "The Bear" Kogutkiewicz, Matthew Raible and Tracy Goode took part in the event.
Lesco, the 14-ranked eater in the world, took home a top-prize of $500 and earned the chance to take on Chestnut, last year's champion, in the grand finale event at the original Hooters location in Clearwater, Fla. on Thursday, July 25.
The event will coincide with a weekend-long celebration of National Chicken Wing Day.
Hooters of America operates 412 Hooters restaurants in 44 states and 27 countries.
