1 injured, 1 charged after fight at St. Patrick's Day party

COVINGTON, Ky. - One man is facing charges while another man is hospitalized after a fight broke out after a night of St. Patrick's Day revelry.

Lt. Spike Jones with the Covington Police Department says some type of altercation happened in the 600 block of Main Street early Sunday morning.

Officers say they witnessed Joseph West, 23 punch another man.  West allegedly ran from the scene when officers came up.  One officer pursued West and another tended to the victim.

After a foot pursuit police arrested West in a parking lot along Fifth Street in Covington.

According to Covington Police the victim was knocked unconscious.  He was transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati where, as of Monday, he still in the hospital.  He is in critical but stable condition.

West was booked into the Kenton County Jail on charges of assault and fleeing/evading both are felonies.

Officials have not released any other information on the victim.

The incident remains under investigation.
