NEWPORT, Ky. - A Northern Kentucky business is closing its doors Friday after serving the area for more than 90 years.
The Trauth Dairy plant in Newport ends production at the end of the day Friday. The decision to close the plant was a business decision, company officials tell 9 News.
A total of 80 people lose their jobs with the plant's closure. The building will remain a distribution and administration center with 190 employees.
Dean Foods, a processor and distributor of dairy products, owns the Trauth Dairy brand
Twelve varieties of milk, three kinds of cream, as well as egg nog, chip dips, cottage cheese, and fruit drinks were manufactured at Trauth Dairy's Newport plant, according to the business' website.
