AAA forecasts 3 pct. rise in Ohio holiday travel

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - AAA expects more Ohioans to travel over the upcoming holidayseason, reflecting what the auto club describes as modestimprovement in the economy.

The organization on Thursday released a forecast that 3.5million Ohio residents would venture 50 or more miles from homeduring the Christmas-to-New Year's period. That would be 3 percentmore than last year.

AAA says the overwhelming majority of the Ohio holiday travelers-- 3.25 million -- will drive to their destinations.

The auto club says 92.3 million people nationwide will taketrips of at least 50 miles and spend 3.5 percent more on holidaytravel than they did last year.
