3 arrested, 1 cited after shooting at Middletown bar

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio - Three people were arrested at a Middletown bar early Friday morning after a shot was fired.

Middletown police say they were originally called to the Take a Break Lounge at 1217 Jackson Lane around 1 a.m. Friday morning for a bar fight.

No one inside reported any problems, but Benwan Edwards, 19, was charged with underage consumption.

Edwards was cited but not taken into custody.

Officers stayed on patrol in the back parking lot of the bar. About an hour later, at around 2:15 a.m., officers heard a gunshot coming from the front of the bar.

After investigating, officers found that a vehicle had hit a Chevrolet SUV parked out front.

Police say the driver of the Chevrolet then got out of the car and fired one shot in the direction of the other vehicle.

Police arrested the driver of the Chevrolet, 22-year-old Tremaine Johnson of Fayetteville, NC, and recovered a 9 mm pistol at the scene.

Johnson was charged with felonious assault, discharging a firearm in city limits and using weapons while intoxicated.

Johnson was booked into the Middletown City Jail.

During the investigation of the shooting, two other men were arrested.

Fredick Dinwiddle, 22, of Chattanooga, Tenn., was charged with obstructing official business.

James Collins, 34, of Middletown was charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing official business and possession of marijuana.

Both Dinwiddle and Collins were booked into the Middletown City Jail.
