LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- The first round is on the coach.

Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz is buying beer for 2,500 fans 21 or older with proper ID. Vouchers will be distributed at a table inside the arena Thursday.

Walz, a Northern Kentucky native, told The Courier-Journal it's his way of saying thanks to No. 5 Louisville's loyal fans and invite others to come see the team.

Walz, who played at Highlands High School and Northern Kentucky University, coached Louisville to the Women's Final Four last season.

Louisville plays No. 14 LSU in the Preseason WNIT semifinals at 7 p.m. EST Thursday at the Yum Center.

Louisville assistant athletic director for marketing Amy Morgan says tickets are being discounted from $10 to $6 for the game.

Last week, Kansas State gave about 300 pounds of free bacon to students attending its women's season opener.
