Fairfield jumped out to a lead on a 71-yard second-quarter reception by Tyron Harper and never trailed as the Indians beat Sycamore, 19-13 on Friday.

Ryan Nuss added a 50-yard field goal less than three minutes later to extend the Fairfield lead to 10.

Sycamore (5-3) found the end zone early in the third quarter on a 37-yard run by Alex Tillman, but with 1:28 left in the stanza, Herman Brunis caught a 22-yard pass from Nuss to make it 17-6.

Nuss finished 9-for-17 for 118 yards and one TD plus five kicking points. Recoe Walker led the Indians (7-1) in rushing with 52 yards on 13 carries.

Harper caught three passes for 97 yards and the first-half TD.

The Aviators were led by Solomon McMullin, who rushed 15 times for 79 yards and a late score, and Tillman, who finished with 11 carries for 78 yards and one touchdown.

Fairfield, now in a two-way tie for third in the GMC, are at Mason on Oct. 25. Sycamore, 2-3 in the conference, hosts Lakota East.
