8/11 BGLF: St. Henry wins 'A'; Grant 6th

Tobergte paces Crusaders

St. Henry edged out Newport Central Catholic by four strokes in the All ‘A’ regional tournament at the Kenton County Willows Course on Monday.

Throughbreds senior Drew McDonald earned medalist honors with a 75, qualifying for the state tournament individually, as did Beechwood’s Mitch Schilling, who shot 80 and St. Henry’s entire team.

The ‘A’ state championship will be held on Sept. 6 in Somerset.

TOP INDIVIDUALS: 1. McDonald (NCC) 75; 2. Luke Tobergte (SH) 79; 3. Schilling (BEE) 80; 4. N. Schrand (HC), El. Berling (SH), Et. Berling (SH) 82.

GRANT TAKES SIXTH IN OLDHAM INVITATIONAL – Sophomore Jacob Vrolijk led the Braves with a second-place finish, firing a 1-under 70 at the Oldham County Country Club.

Senior Cody Kellam finished with a 74, and freshman Kyle West shot an 81 for Grant County.
