Newport Central Catholic scored twice in the top of the fifth inning and held on to edge Dixie Heights, 3-2 on Tuesday.
With runners at second and third and no outs, Thoroughbreds junior second baseman Casey Kohls lifted a sacrifice fly to left, tying the score at two.
Junior catcher Kristen Schreiber then belted a double to left center field to give NewCath the lead for good.

BOONE COUNTY 8, CONNER 2 – Senior right-hander Dallis Knotts won her 11th game of the season and hit a grand slam to pace the Rebels.
Knotts scattered nine hits but fanned nine. She smacked her home run to left field in the fourth inning, her first of the season.
Eighth-grade first baseman Olivia Johnson helped the Boone County offense get going with a two-run double in the first that made it 3-0.

LLOYD 22, COVINGTON LATIN 2 – Junior shortstop Jordan Gentry hit for the cycle and drove in seven runs, including a grand slam, in the Juggernauts’ win.
Gentry plated a run each with her single, double and triple, and her grand slam – the first homer of her career to left field – keyed a 10-run second inning.
