COLERAIN TWP., Ohio - The Colerain Cardinals haven’t lost a home playoff game since 2000. That streak will continue for at least one more year following their 41-14 victory over the Springboro Panthers at Cardinal Stadium on Saturday night.

Colerain (11-0) started out strong on its home turf with a TD within the first five minutes when Dashaunte Jones  pulled in a 41-yard pass from Kelvin Cook.

Springboro (9-2) looked to sophomore quarterback Elijah Cunningham to answer,  but he threw an interception right into the hands of Jalen Christian to give Colerain another opportunity to score.

Next, Cook found Jordan Asbury for an amazing 86-yard TD which gave Colerain a two-score lead.

Cunningham then threw another interception into the hands of Jeff Christian, whose brother got the first interception. He took it to the house 17 yards. Springboro did block the kick, leaving the score at 20-0 after one quarter.

The young and inexperienced Cunningham really felt the pressure from the Colerain defense. He was picked off five times in total and sacked three times.

Colerain added a pair of second-quarter touchdowns, a 16-yard run by Jordan Asberry and a 37-yard catch by Josh Boland, to open a 34-0 lead at the half.

Cook put the nail in the coffin with his 43-yard TD scamper less than three minutes into the second half to open up 41-0 lead.

Springboro added a couple of late touchdowns from DL Knock on an 8-yard pass in the third quarter and a 36-yard  run in the fourth.

The Cardinals play Pickerington Central (8-2) at 7 p.m. Saturday at Dayton Welcome Stadium.
