Fairfield senior Tyron Harper was voted the WCPO Player of the Week for Week 1, picking up 3,102 votes (33.2 percent).
The Indians’ wide receiver earned his nomination by catching 11 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns in the team’s season-opening win over Beavercreek.
Harper edged out Loveland’s Nate Slagel in one of the closest votes in the history of the Player of the Week voting. Highlands’ Zach Harris finished third in the voting conducted by TriStateFootball.com. In total, 11 players were nominated with 9,342 votes casted.
