Cincinnati Bengals declare Geno Atkins out for season; newcomer Christo Bilukidi can't play, either

CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Bengals thought they had signed a roster replacement for injured All-Pro defensive tackle Geno Atkins Monday only to find that the Canadian citizen doesn't have a proper work permit.

It turns out that Christo Bilukidi's work permit when he played for the Raiders this season and last isn't transferrable, so the NFL voided his contract with the Bengals. Bilukidi, the Raiders’ sixth-round draft pick in 2012 from Georgia State, played 13 games with Oakland in 2012 and five in 2013.

The Bengals officially declared Atkins out for the year Monday by placing him on the Reserve/Injured list. Atkins tore the ACL in his right knee in the 22-20 overtime loss at Miami last Thursday.

The Bengals signed rookie LB Bruce Taylor to the practice squad. The free agent from Virginia Tech played in all four Bengals preseason games with 10 tackles. He was waived by the Bengals on Aug. 31.
