CINCINNATI - Former Xavier University forward Justin Martin is shopping for a place to play his final college season.
Xavier transfer Justin Martin will visit SMU next weekend + West Virginia on June 6th + 7th, source told @CBSSports. Visited FSU Wednesday.— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) May 23, 2014
The 6-6 forward averaged 11.7 points and 5.2 rebounds last season.
As a graduate student, Martin won't have to sit out a season after transferring.
Martin didn't explain publicly why he left Xavier.
"I have decided to use my 5th year at another school. I sincerely thank Xavier and the xavier fans/community for the support and opportunity!" Martin said on Twitter.
"(It) has been an experience of a lifetime to even play division 1 basketball. I will always be a musketeer and will always love Xavier!!"
Martin's departure left the Musketeers without their top two scorers from last season's NCAA tournament team.
Sophomore guard and leading scorer Semaj Christon (17 ppg) decided to go to the NBA.
