CINCINNATI - About 20 young musicians from as far as Sydney, Australia, are learning the art of operatic conducting at the College of Conservatory of Music. Over two weeks, these students are immersed in everything from the language to the libretto of Italian opera.
WCPO Digital's Matt Peiken takes us inside the program, which culminates at 7 p.m. June 30, when 10 conductors tag-team a semi-staged performance of "The Barber of Seville." Ten other aspiring conductors take the podium the following Sunday with a semi-staged performance of "Cinderella."
Each student invested $3,000, plus room and board, for the opportunity to spend these two weeks in the annual CCM program.
