OXFORD, Ohio -- Willie Moore and Geovonie McKnight each scored 14 points as Miami (Ohio) edged ahead with 22 seconds remaining and defeated Southern Illinois 67-65 on Sunday.
Moore made a 3-pointer that put Miami within one point, 65-64 with 1:09 left to play. After Anthony Beane missed a layup for Southern Illinois, Will Felder hit a jumper to give the RedHawks a 66-65 lead. A free throw by Quinten Rollins capped the scoring and secured the win for Miami (4-6).
Both Moore and McKnight shot 5 of 8 from the floor, and each made one 3-pointer and three free throws.
Desmar Jackson scored 27 points, including the final four points for the Salukis (4-9). Jackson's dunk and ensuing jump shot broke a 61-61 tie and put Southern Illinois ahead 65-61 with 1:21 left to play.
The second half consisted of 10 lead changes and three ties.
