HEBRON, Ky. -- Four people, including one in critical condition, were transported to local hospitals Saturday evening after a multi-vehicle accident in Hebron, Ky.

Boone County Sheriff's deputies reported to the intersection of Langley Drive and Northbend Road (Kentucky Route 237) just before 6 p.m. after receiving reports that three vehicles were involved in an accident.

According to the investigation report, Joshua Burling, 18, of Alexandria, Ky., was starting a left turn from Langley Drive onto northbound Northbend Road in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when he was struck by a Nissan Rogue driven by Deanna Patton, 37, of Hebron, Ky. Patton was traveling southbound on Northbend Road.

Investigators said Patton, who started out behind Burling, braked hard and swerved right but still "t-boned" Burling's vehicle.

The initial collision caused the pickup truck to spin around and hit an Oldsmobile Bravada traveling northbound on Northbend Road. The impact caused the car to go off the right side of the road and down an embankment.

The driver of the Bravada, 74-year-old Ronald Ginzinger, was flown by medical helicopter to University of Cincinnati Medical Center to be treated for life-threatening injuries, according to information officer for the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

Ginzinger's wife, 71-year-old Rita Ginzinger, suffered non life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

Burling and Patton were also taken to St. Elizabeth's for treatment. Their injuries were described as "minor" by officials from the sheriff's office.

Deputies shut down a stretch of Northbend Road at the spot of the accident to investigate and remove wreckage from the roadway.

Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation.
