CINCINNATI - There are not too many times when news of a twerking flameout collides with a sober anniversary like Sept. 11. This week was the exception.
#Twerkburn. By now, you’ve probably seen the epic “twerking” fail: Girl “twerks” on her door, friend opens door, girl back flips onto a coffee table adorned with candles, girl busts table, girl catches fire. While the video went viral almost instantly, many were scratching their heads: was this real or fake?
Jimmy Kimmel had the answer on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Monday night. It was, in fact, fake, and Kimmel himself orchestrated the whole thing. The video was performed by a stunt person, and just like that, we had to question everything we believed in.
I mean, if you can’t believe something on the Internet, what can you believe? Luckily, we have WCPO Community Editor Holly Edgell to give us some good rules of thumb to follow when viewing digital content that is both ridiculous and pretty cool. Watch Holly’s interview with 9 On Your Side reporter Tony Mirones.
An Apple Update. After a few months of anticipation, Apple made its big announcement Tuesday, delivering announcing a new operating system, iOS7, and two new phones: the iPhones 5C and iPhones 5S. Apple said the iOS7 will be available as early as September 18, with the new phones coming later. The biggest shock though? The colors of the phones. If you were unimpressed with the black and white options before, you’ll probably get a kick out of these babies.
#NeverForget: Patriot Day and social media. Wednesday, was the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks. Also known as Patriot Day, it’s a time for Americans to remember and reflect on how far we’ve come as a nation. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who didn’t remember where he or she was on that tragic day; in fact, our Tri-State social media users told us exactly where they were. Community Manager Libby captured their responses – check them out here.
Calling Saul. Social media networks were abuzz Wednesday when it was announced that the “Breaking Bad” spinoff, tentatively titled “Better Call Saul,” got the green light from AMC. For those of you who are preemptively mourning the end of “Breaking Bad” in just a few episodes, this is the news you’ve been waiting to hear.
