Applebee's restaurants will bring 100,000 Intel-backed tablets to 1,800 locations next year.
The installation of 100,000 E la Carte Presto tablets, powered by Intel, will be on every table and on bar tops at more than 1,800 Applebee’s restaurants by the end of next year.
Applebee's franchisor, DineEquity, made the announcement Tuesday for the 2014 installation plan, that will also occur at IHOP.
“Let’s face it, everyone who has ever been to a restaurant has been frustrated by waiting for their check,” said Applebee’s President Mike Archer.
“Starting out, our goal was to create a way for guests to control when and how they pay their check. What we learned after nearly two years of testing is we can provide much more. The Presto tablet will deliver our guests a robust slate of offerings for not only transactions, but entertainment, social interaction and more, moving forward.”
Applebee's, the world's largest casual dining chain, anticipates the tablets to create a better, faster flow throughout the restaurant.
Purchasing gift cards, paying the bill, ordering more food or drinks and playing games will be options available for guests from the table.
No final dates have been set for the 1,800 locations to try out the new tablets.
