BURLINGTON, Ky. - A Union man has been in jail for more than three years for allegedly killing his parents -- and he's still awaiting a trial.

Michael Moore's trial isn't until May 2013, but on Wednesday, he'll be in front of a Boone County judge for a pre-trial conference.

Moore is charged with shooting and killing his parents, Warren and Madge Moore, in their home in 2009. Police say he also shot himself and claimed someone came into the house firing shots.

Moore pleaded not guilty to murder, tampering with evidence, falsely reporting an incident, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He's been in jail since being arrested more than three years ago.

Moore's father was the city administrator and former mayor of Union.

9 News tried contacting the Boone County Commonwealth's Attorney and Moore's public defender regarding why it's taken more than three years to get the case in front of a jury. Calls to both parties were not returned.

Moore has a pre-trial conference Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Boone County courthouse.
