Warren County inmate fails to return to jail after funeral furlough

Deputies searching for Sherman Edmonds

LEBANON, Ohio -- Warren County law enforcement is looking for an inmate who walked away while on a funeral furlough.

The Warren County Sherriff’s Office said 53-year-old Sherman Edmonds was granted a furlough to attend a funeral for a family member on Tuesday.

Edmonds was supposed to return to the jail at 4:30 p.m. but failed to do so.

Investigators checked his last known address but were unable to find him.

Edmonds was being held on a felony theft charge and now faces an additional felony charge of escape.

Deputies described him as 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 205 pounds. Edmonds is African-American with black hair and a graying goatee.
