LEBANON, Ohio -- Rain and wind are being partially blamed for an accident on Interstate 75 near Lebanon that overturned a semi truck and sent the driver to the hospital early Friday morning.

The accident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. while the semi was traveling southbound on Interstate 75 just before the 35 mile marker, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers at the scene. The troops said strong winds affected the trucks trailer and forced the driver to go off the road and down an embankment.

According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts of between 40 to 60 mph occurred Thursday night and into Friday morning. The Tri-State was under a Wind Advisory for a portion of the day.

The driver of the truck was transported to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown to be treated for what medics described as "minor injuries," according to 9 On Your Side's Mario Ramirez. The name of the victim was not released.

A portion of southbound I-75 was down to one lane near the site of the accident early Friday morning while the accident was cleared. Officials told Ramirez traffic could be affected for "a few hours" but a specific timetable was not available.

While law enforcement officials believe weather conditions played a role, the accident remains under investigation.
