Off-duty Monroe police officer catches Chick-fil-A purse thief in the act

DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OHIO -- An off-duty police officer stopped a theft attempt at a Chick-fil-A Tuesday morning.

A Monroe police officer was at the restaurant located at 5150 Merten Drive at 9:30 a.m. when he witnessed Brian J. Hacker, 34, take a woman's purse.

The officer chased Hacker to the nearby Mason Inn on Montgomery Road. Warren County Sheriff's deputies came to the inn and took Hacker into custody.

In the process of gathering evidence, deputies also say Hacker tried to enter the backdoor of a Waffle House earlier in the morning to take items from that location.

Hacker was taken to the Warren County Jail and was charged with robbery and breaking and entering.
