Dione Payne homicide: Third man charged in death of Dayton, Ohio teen

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio – A third man was arrested in relation to the killing of a Middletown teenager in early December.

On Monday, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office announced Adam Patrick, 30, was charged with aggrevated robbery in relation to the murder of Dione Payne Dec. 1.

Police previously arrested 36-year-old Michael Geldrich and 39-year-old Michael Watson for robbing, beating and sexually assaulting of Payne of Dayton, Ohio. Payne was transported to Atrium Medical Center where he died from injuries.

A grand jury indicted Geldrich and Watson for Aggrevated Murder, Kidnapping, Aggravated Robberty, Rape, and Tampering with Evidence. Both men face life sentences without parole if convicted.

In announcing the arrest and indictment of Patrick, Warren County Prosecutor David P. Fornshell said the third man was involved in the planning of the robbery, but not present during the homicide.

“I would like to thank the Franklin detectives and police for doing an awesome job. I would like to thank my family and friends who stood by my side during this tragedy. I am confident that justice will be served. I would also ask for the media to respect my privacy, and I do not wish to make any further statements,” said Tamiko Payne, mother of Dione Payne.

During the intial investigation, police said Payne was at a Franklin home to sell drugs to the men when the attack happened.

Geldrich and Watson later dropped the teen off at the hospital in a black pickup, authorities said. Less than 24 hours later, the truck was found and both men were arrested.
