CINCINNATI -- The World Series of Poker tour is making an extended stop at the new casino in Cincinnati.

As many as 8,000 World Series of Poker players and fans will invade the Queen City on Thursday to begin an 11-day tour stop at Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati. The poker showcase runs from Sept. 19 to Sept. 30, with the final three days serving as the "main event."

The card sharks (or card sharps) will show off their poker faces and bluffing abilities over the course of 12 events, mostly no-limit Omaha and Texas Hold'em games, in Cincinnati. Most of the events are one-day tournaments, but the official WSOP circuit events will be played over the course of several days.

Buy-ins for the series range from $365 to $1,675.

Cincinnati is the third stop in this year's 22-city World Series of Poker season and is expected to be a permanent fixture on the tour. Horseshoe Casino Cleveland will play host to some of the biggest names in professional gambling from March 20-31, 2014 for its tour stop.

Will the casinos be able to accommodate the players and the crowd? That's the question being asked by officials in both cities.

The year-old Cleveland casino was bumped from the World Series of Poker tour this year after the Ohio Casino Control Commission rejected plans to play in the ballroom at the adjacent Renaissance Cleveland Hotel.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Caesars Entertainment, which manages and holds a stake in the two casinos, also owns the World Series of Poker.
