Police: Why was child found wandering in Carthage all by herself?

CINCINNATI – A child found wandering in the street in Carthage Tuesday afternoon has reunited with her family, but investigators want to know why she was alone.

The girl, considered by authorities as “special needs,” was found walking near 130 W. North Bend Road at about 2:25 p.m.

She was wearing a pink T-shirt, a diaper and red and white sneakers, police said.

The family met up with the child at the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). She left at about 10 p.m. with her grandmother, who said she was there to pick the child up.

Police said Tuesday night that the young girl is unable to speak, so they had difficulty learning information when they found her on the street.

No further information was immediately available.
