COVINGTON, Ky. – Normal business resumed at the Covington Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky bus transit center Tuesday afternoon after the Cincinnati Bomb Squad determined a suspicious package contained speakers.
The squad was called to 220 Madison Ave. shortly before noon after a backpack with wires sticking out of it was seen on the fourth floor of the center's parking garage. Those wires were part of the speaker system.
Extra precautions were taken by the Covington Police Department, due to the close proximity of the TANK center to Kenton County courts.
While authorities investigated, TANK closed the center and moved pick ups for bus routes to the corners of Fourth Street and Scott, and Fourth Street and Russell.
No roads were closed during the investigation.
