MASON, Ohio -- A man wanted on drug charges crashed just off northbound I-71 Friday evening in Mason, bringing a high speed chase to an end.
The man, later identified as 39-year-old Christopher Manley, exited the highway onto Mason-Montgomery Road, then proceeded to crash over the center median and into a Walgreens parking lot. The driver finally came to a stop in a cornfield at about 7:20 p.m.
Manley, police believe, ran into the cornfield. His location Friday night remained unclear.
"We had a quick perimeter set up, K-9's were here and available, started a track. It's a very thick, wooded area here," Lt. John Faine of the Warren County Sheriff's Office said. "We even had help with City of Mason Police Department, also the Ohio State Highway Patrol had several units here. Then finally the helicopter from the highway patrol was here attempting to help with the search, but we were unable to find him."
A helicopter arrived at about 8 p.m. to help search the field overhead. Police took a woman into custody.
