FAIRFILED, Ohio -- An elderly woman was flown to the hospital with multiple injuries after being hit by a driver in a Fairfield parking lot.
The 83-year-old woman was walking from her car to the entrance of the Meijer department store on South Gilmore Road at about 5:15 Friday afternoon.
Sgt. Don Garrett of the Fairfield Police Department said an 80-year-old woman was backing a silver van out of a parking space when she lost control. She hit the woman, then crashed into four other parked vehicles.
Officers closed the parking lot when they arrived and helped free the woman from being trapped. She was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center to be treated.
The driver was cited for failing to control her vehicle, Garrett said. No further injuries were reported.
