Nine rescued from burning apartment buiding in Price Hill Saturday morning

Families awoke to smoke, flames

CINCINNATI – Firefighters rescued nine people from the third floor of a burning apartment building in Price Hill early Saturday morning, 9 On Your Side’s Lisa Smith reported.

Several families awoke to smoke and flames about 5:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of Westmont Drive.

Firefighters arrived to find several people trapped inside and on a balcony.

"There was heavy smoke on the third floor that precluded people from taking the interior stairs," District Fire Chief Michael Washington told Smith.

“Through ground ladders and aerial ladders we affected several rescues - about nine people. We extinguished the main body of the fire in the fire apartment and brought the situation under control in about an hour.”

No one was injured, but some residents lost everything they had.

The Red Cross will be assisting five adults and two children.

Investigators are looking into the cause.
