CINCINNATI -- Flames tore through a three-story multi-residential building in Over-the-Rhine early Friday.
Officials say the fire broke out at about 4:15 a.m. in the 260 block of W McMicken Avenue.
The flames started on the first floor, according to fire crews.
A man who lives in a first floor apartment told WCPO reporter Amy Wadas the fire started in his apartment. He said he accidently left the stove on then fell asleep and his smoke alarm never sounded.
His apartment is a total loss.
Another man inside the building jumped from a second floor window to escape the blaze and suffered a broken ankle. He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment.
A Metro bus was called to help keep displaced residents warm while crews battled the fire and Red Cross is assisting two of them.
Damage is estimated at $35,000 and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
