Matthew 25: Ministries sends disaster relief team to Illinois

BLUE ASH, Ohio -- Matthew 25: Ministries, an international humanitarian aide organization located in Blue Ash, is sending a relief team to Illinois to help with the destruction from Sunday's storms.

A series of tornadoes ripped through Peoria and Washington, Illinois on Sunday, killing at least six and leaving  numerous injured.

In the wake of this devastation, Matthew 25: Ministries packed up two disaster relief trucks and headed to Illinois around 11 a.m. on Monday.

"Here in the United States its very important to get there early because not only are we going in there to help the people but we are doing this assessment and helping other organizations get set up that aren't used to disaster relief they may be used to sending out to a developing country but not in there own back yards," Tim Metty, CEO, told WCPO's AJ Walker.

The team is sending water supplies, tarps, personal items and cleaning supplies.

They are accepting donations to send, such as non-perishable food items, personal care products, paper products, cleaning supplies and first-aid items.

Matthew 25: Ministries accepts donations online and in-person. Visit their website: Matthew 25: Ministries  or call 513-793-6256. They are located at 11060 Kenwood Road.
