CINCINNATI - Brian Everett of East Price Hill told a judge he would not accept any kind of plea deal requiring him to serve more than 22 years in prison.
Everett began his trial Monday accused of killing 39-year-old Nicole Smith, 39, and her 12-year-old daughter, Stephanie, in May 2012.
Stephanie was a student at Oyler School.
On a 911 call, Everett said there was a stabbing at their apartment on Woodlawn avenue, and that it was done in self defense.
Opening statements are expected to begin Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Everett faces up to life in prison if convicted.
