INTERACTIVE: Track the black bear spottings from Miami Township to Eastgate

EASTGATE, Ohio -- After a brief hiatus the rambling black bear spotted throughout the Tri-State has been seen again, and perhaps heading home.

This time the bear was spotted Tuesday morning on East Tech Drive near Eastgate Mall.

Since June 22, the Kentucky native has been looking for a mate in Clermont County. It briefly wandered into Oakley and was seen outside of Crossroads Church on a recent Sunday.

Wildlife officials have repeatedly stated the 85-pound, 2-year-old bear is harmless if left alone. Those officials plan on letting the bear roam freely, believing it will eventually head south and cross the Ohio River to its territory in Kentucky.

A map of bear sightings indicate the bear is doing exactly that.

The bear may be headed back to the eastern Kentucky mountains or Daniel Boone National Forest, according to Steve Dobey, Bear Program Coordinator for the Kentucky Department for Fish & Wildlife Resources.

Officials originally believed the bear may have crossed back into Kentucky when no one had seen it for about a week.
