CINCINNATI -- A man was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in North Avondale, and died about two hours later.

The crash happened shortly before 8 p.m. on southbound Paddock Road, forcing police to close the street between Egan Hills Road and Paddock Hills Avenue until about 11 p.m.

Officers said a vehicle hit 26-year-old Antwon Denson at 4409 Paddock Road, and the driver stopped immediately after the incident.

Denson was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries to his head and chest. He was pronounced dead at about 10 p.m.

Several people who told police they saw the crash happen said Denson ran into the street before he was hit.

"We have probably eight witnesses that we have right now, and we'll interview them," Lt. Maria Herold of the CPD said. "So if anybody can help us out, we will appreciate phone calls on this."

Sgt. Mike Miller said investigators questioned the driver, and released him.

Anyone who saw anything happen in connection with the incident is asked to call investigators at (513) 352-3542 or CrimeStoppers at (513) 352-3040.

WCPO reporter Amy Wadas reported on this story at the scene.
