MASON, Ohio -- Three people are recovering at local hospitals after an early morning fire at a Mason trailer park.
The fire started at about 3 a.m. at the Mason Mobile Home Park located at 1010 Reading Road.
Neighbors report hearing a loud noise before seeing flames rip through the area, according to officials.
Police say one trailer was fully engulfed in flames and is a total loss. Two adjacent trailers sustained significant damage.
Two people were taken to Bethesda North Hospital with burn injuries and another person was taken to Children's Liberty Hospital for medical evaluation, according to officials. Crews discovered the body of a deceased pet dog inside one of the mobile homes.
A Thornton's Gas Station employee, who was across the street from the trailer park, says an explosion shook the building he was in and was so loud he thought a gas pump outside had exploded.
Investigators later said the cause of the fire was an accidental gas leak.
The Red Cross is assisting one family displaced by the fire and another family is staying with friends and family.
