CVG makes big announcement Tuesday, Allegiant expands service

CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport made a major announcement Tuesday: a new low-cost airline is now available to travelers.

Kenton County Airport board members, CVG CEO, Candace McGraw, community leaders and other officials made the announcement at 10 a.m.

“We are pleased to add Orlando and the beaches of Southwest Florida as an affordable, convenient destination option for Cincinnati residents,” said Andrew C. Levy, Allegiant Travel Company President. “We are confident the community will appreciate the convenience of flying nonstop to Orlando and Punta Gorda and the value of bundling their air, hotel and car rental reservation together.”

Flights are available to book for travel beginning on Feb. 12, 2014 to Orlando Sanford Airport (SFB) and on February 14, 2014 to Ft. Myers/Punta Gorda Airport (PGD).

The airline has prices listed as low as $255 for round trip tickets to the new destinations and the introductory fares from CVG are $50 to Orlando and $70 to Ft.Myers/Punta Gorda. This rate is good through October 22, 2013.

“We are excited to add Allegiant to our family of carriers at CVG,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. “Orlando and Southwest Florida are popular destinations for our passengers. We are thrilled to have a vacation centered low-cost carrier to serve the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky community.”

“Allegiant gives CVG’s leisure travelers an excellent opportunity to visit Orlando and Southwest Florida. It is an honor to welcome our ninth carrier to CVG," said James Huff, chairman of the Kenton County Airport Board.
