Jackson Township home destroyed in fire

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A Jackson Township home was destroyed in a four-alarm structure fire Monday night, officials say.

The fire broke out at residence in the 3600 block of Weaver Road just before 8:15 p.m.

Authorities say the homeowner was not home when the fire started and no one was injured.

Officials say the home was a total loss.

The homeowner's son, 26-year-old Corey Moore, told 9 On Your Side reporter Amy Wadas he moved out of the home six months ago, but still stored personal items at his father's, including his baseball cards.

Moore said the home does not have central heat and space heaters are used to heat the residence. Moore said he does not believe his father would have left them unattended.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Jackson Township Fire Department.
