Charity Navigator ranks Cincinnati fourth-most-giving city in US

CINCINNATI - When it comes to charitable giving, you'd be hard-pressed to find a more generous city than Cincinnati.

The Queen City ranks fourth in the nation according CharityNavigator.org .

The website conducted its ninth-annual study on the 30 largest metropolitan areas to find out which cities' charities are the most transparent.

The study was meant to analyze "any statistical differences in the financial, accountability and transparency practices of charities located in various metropolitan markets across America."

The site said the 30 metro markets make up for about 52 percent of the 6,300 charities it evaluated as of May 1.

The information used to conduct the study was taken from the charities' 990 tax forms and their websites.

Only San Diego, Houston and Kansas City were rated more benevolent.
