HAMILTON, Ohio -- A former Butler County high school teacher was sentenced Thursday to 30 days in jail after authorities said he inappropriately touched a 17-year-old student.
Steven Mario resigned from his teaching position at Ross High School in Hamilton in May of 2013 after an investigation by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and Ross Township Police Department. Mario worked for the Ross School District for 13 years.
Investigators said Mario also gave the student marijuana.
He surrendered his teaching license to the State of Ohio in December of 2013.
Mario pleaded guilty to the charge of contributing to the unruliness/delinquency of a minor, a first-degree misdemeanor.
He was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 150 days suspended, meaning he will serve 30 days.
Deputies ask that anyone with additional information about Mario’s conduct call 513-785-1239 or the Ross Township Police Department at 513-795-1535.
