HAMILTON, Ohio -- Butler County’s chief appellate prosecutor is making a run for judge.
Michael Oster, who is the attorney for Butler County Common Pleas judges, announced Monday he will run for the seat that retiring judge Michael Sage currently holds.
"This has been something that’s been in my mind for several years now,” said Oster.
Sage, who has served as a common pleas judge in the county for 24 years, will retire on February 9 of next year.
Orsen said he believes his years of experience arguing cases in the appellate division will give him a unique perspective if elected judge.
"I'm one of the few people who can probably say they've tried some of the most complex cases at the common pleas level and then argued them at the court of appeals and at the Ohio Supreme Court," he said. "Understanding the interplay between all of those courts is something that I think makes me uniquely qualified. "
Oster will run against Ben Manning for Sage's seat in the Republican primary this May.
