Visitation for Samantha Ramsey to be held First Baptist Church in Ludlow

FLORENCE, Ky. -- The family of a 19-year-old woman who was killed by a Boone County Sheriff’s deputy will hold a visitation for her Friday.

Samantha Ramsey was shot and killed in the early morning hours of April 26 .

A visitation in her honor will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ludlow.

Her funeral is set for 10 a.m. Saturday with burial at Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell.

The deputy who shot Ramsey, Tyler Brockman, said he feared for his life and for the lives of nearby bystanders and other deputies.

The Ramsey family's attorney issued a statement saying:

"The circumstances surrounding Samantha’s brutal, needless and untimely death are being thoroughly investigated on behalf of the family, Samantha and the community.

The Kentucky State Police have declined a request from the sheriff’s office to take the lead in the investigation and is offering technical assistance instead.

The sheriff’s office said the case will be sent to the Commonwealth’s attorney and likely to a grand jury for review.
