UNION, Ky. -- A Florence, Ky. man is dead after a three-vehicle crash in Union, Ky. Sunday.
Authorities said Bobby Jones, 26, was driving his Dodge Shadow the wrong direction in the southbound lane of U.S. 25 near Frogtown Road at about 7 a.m. when the crash happened.
Richard Taylor, 27, was traveling southbound when officials said he veered left in an attempt to avoid colliding with Jones. The two then sideswiped each other. The impact caused Jones’ vehicle to overturn and block the roadway.
Jones’ vehicle was then struck by a Dodge Ram pickup truck operated by Frank Berry, 62, who was driving on U.S. 25. The impact knocked Jones’ vehicle into 30-year-old Chelsie Ketron, a pedestrian who had stopped to help.
Jones was transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Taylor and Ketron were also taken to Saint Elizabeth. Taylor was treated and released. Ketron was transferred to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Berry was uninjured.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision.
