BURLINGTON, Ky. – A former long-time Boone County youth sports coach who was charged with multiple sex crimes with six boys pleaded guilty Wednesday to producing and possessing child pornography.
Boone County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Michael Schweitzer, 46, of Hebron, on June 26, 2013 on charges of sodomy in the first degree and unlawful transaction with a minor in the first degree.
In November 2012, Schweitzer molested a 13-year-old boy entrusted in his care after drugging him with a sleeping pill, according to court documents.
Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway said after that boy came forward, five other boys also reported they were drugged and abused by Schweitzer.
Officials say the crimes happened between May 2011 and June 2013.
Further investigation led to the discovery of more videos produced by Schweitzer that involved minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct and he admitted his guilt in federal court Wednesday.
Schweitzer was "a volunteer coach for various Boone County area youth baseball, basketball, football and wrestling teams," Conway said.
His plea deal, pending the court's approval, would result in a sentence of 35 years in prison.
Schweitzer is scheduled for sentencing on July 1, 2014.
